Responsibility
Responsibility: By revisiting the old idea of being a steward of the earth, citizens can promote accepting responsibility through numerous ways. Take care of what we have and strive to create better technologies in order to create a better world for our children and our grandchildren. When we all accept responsibility for our actions and accept the role that was gifted to us, we will make this world and its inhabitants happier, and healthier. Responsibility is also accepting that we are the dominating species. Mankind was placed on this earth in the image of God, to live in harmony with other creatures. Therefore we must exercise our powers of ingenuity and invention with a conscious effort in keeping in mind God’s plan. When the plan is disregarded and ignored, mankind becomes callused, greedy and selfish. Take not what you don’t need and waste not when taking. Take care of what you have been given. You are a steward of all that is around you. Tend to this garden that we call earth. Rule not with a fist, but with a kind heart. “(M)an’s heart, away from nature, becomes hard…(and) lack of respect for growing living things soon le(a)d to lack of respect for humans…” (Standing Bear, n.d.). Responsibility is shown through actions not words. Actions always speak louder than words.
